Hello, my name is Inthanong (Nook) Basto. Please call me Nook. My pronouns are she/her/hers and I am Laotion American. My family and I fled the country of Laos due to communism and war. I came to the United States as a refugee at the age of two. I grew up in the Central Valley and attended colleges in the Bay Area.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have my Masters in Social Work. I have 16 years of experience in child welfare providing direct services to families and individuals. I also supervised and mentored MSW students and new child welfare workers. I have helped and mentored young adults and parents to be successful in their personal journey. My goal is to create a safe and therapeutic environment to allow individuals to process and grow. I am a strength based clinician that does collaborative work with individuals, couples and families. I practice cultural humility, trauma informed practice and safety organized practice. I believe that individuals and families can change and grow and are the experts in their lives . I have helped hundreds of individuals and families in the Bay Area and have extensive experience facilitating groups, providing supervision, and trainings.
