Ruth Christine Dimagmaliw, LMFT
Licensed Marriage Marriage and Family Therapist #119569
Hello, my name is Ruth Christine Dimagmaliw, but you may call me Ruth or Ruthie. My pronouns are she/her/hers and I identify as a Pinay or Filipina-American. I was born and raised in the Bay Area and am a proud daughter of immigrants. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with eight years working in the mental health field and 12 years working with youth and families. I have worked in various settings, such as intensive in-home services, outpatient clinics, and school-based settings. I provide direct services to youth and families from various walks of life, such as youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities, youth in the foster care system and in the process of post-adoption, and youth in the juvenile legal system.
When I am not being a therapist, I network with different organizations to increase accessibility of resources and bring communities together. I also provide mental health workshops to various organizations and universities on how to destigmatize mental health and engage in effective self-care. A lot of my work is rooted in creating a positive social impact, developing sustainable change in communities, and increasing accessibility of resources.
My approach in therapy is rooted in person-centered and trauma-informed modalities while holding the lens of cultural humility. Simply put, my goal is to create a safe and warm therapeutic space where you are able to process your experiences and gain insight into knowing yourself. I acknowledge you as a human being with the various narratives you hold and use strengths-based approaches to guide you towards identifying and utilizing your own strengths to create shifts in your life.
