Nyob Zoo, zoo siab tau ntsib koj! (Hello, happy to meet you!) My name is Anthony (He/Him), I am a 1st-Gen Hmong-American everything. I identify as a gay/queer masculine male. I come from Hmong tribal communities of Southeast Asia and my ancestral root extends to the Yellow River Basin with history dating back to the 2500 B.C. Han Dynasty. My family grew up in the high mountains of Luang Prabang, Laos. Due to the mass genocide taking place against Hmong and IU Mien people during the Secret War, my people fled to the United States due to their valuable contributions.

With the long history of trauma AND resilience, I felt the immense pressure to create a new path forward rooted in identity and healing. I emerged as the first Queer male therapist and male individual to complete graduate school in my family. I attended Sacramento Community College and San Francisco State University for my undergraduate degree, followed by earning my Masters in Social Work at Fordham University in New York. As I pursued my education, I worked on a wide range of social justice issues, including helping parents navigate the child protective services system, LGBTQIA+ mental health, AAPI domestic violence, foster youth services, and disability advocacy.

It is my mission to help you achieve clarity, embrace your true self, and create a life filled with joy. “No judgment, No heat” is how I approach therapy. You are the expert of your own life. I believe a therapeutic relationship is one of open dialogue, mutual learning, and feedback. I predominantly utilize Narrative Therapy, CBT, Psychoanalytic, Mindfulness, Solution Focused modalities, however, adjust as needed for specific goals while integrating gender affirming care and social justice frameworks. I specialize in helping BIPOC youth and adults address concerns such as gender dysphoria, acculturation, depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, suicidal ideation, and more.

Beyond my clinical practice, I am a singer and grew up in choral music. I have sung for many charitable causes across the Sacramento region and won a regional singing competition in my native tongue. I am also the founder and content creator of @apiandlgbtq where I make AAPI research and cultural information accessible.

If you are reading this, it may be your time to explore the benefits of therapy. I have been where you are, and I know how you may feel. “Therapy” can sound extreme, so think of this as a non-judgmental space for you to explore yourself.

Your journey does not have to be alone, united we are stronger. I look forward to speaking with you in our 15-minute consultation to determine if the vibes are right. See you soon!
